How do I apply for this Masters Programme?

Can I apply for this Programme online?

At present you cannot apply for this programme online, you will have to download the application from the website. www.lifelonglearningmasters.org and then you will need to send both a hard copy and an electronic copy of the application.


Who is eligible to apply for this programme?

The eligibility for this programme is a Bachelors or Masters degree with good marks from a recognised institution of higher education,

A high level of spoken and written English: IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 650 (written paper test) / 280 (computer based test) / 100 (internet based test) is mandatory. Previous experience with English as medium of instruction is not a sufficient documentation.

An application which does not live up the criteria of admittance will not be accepted

How much is the full tuition fee?

The tuition fee for third-country candidates for a full two year programme is € 15,000

The tuition fee for European candidates for a full two year programme amounts to € 7,000 due to a tuition waiver provided by the Consortium offering the European Masters in Lifelong Learning: Policy and Management

The tuition fee for one module is € 1,875


I am European Citizen, can I apply for this Masters Programme?

What is the total tuition fee for a European citizen?

The tuition fee for European candidates is € 7,000

When does the course/programme start?

Every year the course/programme begins in September in Copenhagen. However, mandatory Introduction Weeks take place the final two weeks of August   If you choose to begin in London the programme/course begins in September

Can I get in contact with current students who are enrolled in the programme?

I have studied with English as a medium of instruction, do I still have to take IELTS or TOEFL?

Previous experience with English as medium of instruction is not sufficient documentation. An Academic IELTS test with an overall score of at least 7.0, with a minimum score of 6.5 for reading and of 6.0 for writing, or a TOEFL test with a score of 650 (280 in the computerised test; 100 in the internet-based test) is mandatory.

Can I apply for the programme without my IELTS or TOEFL score?

You will need to sit for an IELTS or a TOEFL test as proof of your English language proficiency. An IELTS or a TOEFL test is a compulsory and non-negotiable requirement for the MA LLL application.

You are thus required to submit an Academic IELTS test with an overall score of at least 7.0, with a minimum score of 6.5 for reading and of 6.0 for writing, or a TOEFL test with a score of 650 (280 in the computerised test; 100 in the internet-based test).

Only first degrees obtained in a country where English is the official language by applicants for whom English is not the first language may be accepted in lieu of the approved IELTS/TOEFL score.

Would the Masters degree be issued jointly by the three universities?

A joint degree will be issued on successful completion of the programme when national legislations allows it. Currently this only applies for Spain

What certification do I get after completing this programme?

On completion of this programme you will receive double or multiple degrees, depending on the mobility path, leading to:

  • MA (Ed.) in Educational Sociology
  • European Masters in Lifelong Learning: Policy and Management
  • Máster Universitario Europeo en Aprendizaje a lo largo de la vida:
    Politicas y Gestion.
Since when has this MA LLL been offered?

The first batch of European Masters in Lifelong Learning: Policy and Management under Erasmus Mundus label began in August 2006 and we are currently admitting the 4th batch of students who will start in September 2009.

Do I need to take any entrance examinations or eligibility tests?

If you meet all the entry requirements you will not have to take any additional entrance examinations or further eligibility tests.

Short-listed candidates may be required to attend a live interview either in person or by video conference (Skype) before the final offer of admission.

What is a qualification essay?

The qualification essay is an academic essay on a topic related to policy or management in the context of lifelong learning (it should be between 2500-3000 words) Handwritten essays are not accepted.

When is the deadline for submitting the application?

The deadline for applying as a candidate for a scholarship is December 1st. For self-funded students, the deadline is May 1st.


What are the requirements to get an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship?

To receive an Erasmus Mundus scholarship, the student has to meet the conditions of the status of the so-called “third-country graduate student”.

What is a 'third country student'?

A 'third-country graduate student' means a national of a third country other than those from EEA-EFTA States and candidate countries for accession to the European Union, who has already obtained a first higher education degree, who is not a resident of any of the Member States or the participating countries and who has not carried out his or her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the participating country.
